OK, I am in a bit of an alliteration mood - these are Permanent, and Pet-friendly also!

Jim's mom asked for poinsettia's a couple years ago, after I made both the mom's a set of coffee filter roses.  I had made some last year or so ago, but was not happy with that iteration.  This year I made this set and am much happier with it - though I learned a few things in the process of it.

Each pot has 5 stems - the pots are about 7-8", and there is floral foam (the dry stuff, not the stuff meant to hold moisture) and tissue paper filling them.

I bought extra crepe paper, so may make a pot for myself - or save them for crepe roses.

More about it on my blog if anyone is interested...

wow, amazingly realistic!
can you do multicolored ones, too?  My faves are the pink-and-white.

Not that I expect you to make me a set of pink and white ones.  Grin

Hmmmmmm... oddly enough, I have been thinking of making the streaky ones for myself... or the pale yellow ones...  But I have lots of the red "flame" paper, so I think I will make myself a pot of red, with a bit of gold or pearl speckling with some either some fluid acrylic ink or thinned out acrylic paint in a mister bottle - hopefully that won't be too heavy.

You can make multicoloured ones - you would need to use pastels to add colour, and a fixative to fix the pastel colour on - I am waiting for one of my art stores to put decent pastels on sale (and to have them in stock!!!), then giving it a try to tint crepe paper to make gigantic crepe roses for mother's day.

It did win the realism test - I took one of the pots out to Jim's workshop when he had a couple of friends there, and they thought I was going to decorate the shop - they did think they were real poinsettias at first.

I love these! They look so realistic. Considering I kill every plant I come in contact with I could use one of these for my holiday table

Thank you.  I am a plant murderer too.  My most successful method of plant care is called "benign neglect".  If it lives then it is either by the grace of all that is good, plant fairies, the dog is sneaking around peeing on it, or because nothing short of smothering love will kill it.

Being crepe paper, one could play with stretching out the leaves at intervals too - to get that fancy ruffled edge of one particular fancy type of poinsettia too.

Those look great, so realistic. I can't figure out how you made them at all (or those coffee filter roses, just WOW!).

I'm not awesome with house plants either. Only pothos, good thing those are my fave, lol.

Thanks - I was hoping for that effect.  Really hoping the moms like them.  I have a tutorial to the link on my blog for making these.  Maybe on the coffee filter roses too, in that post.  Some minor things I learned that I will try for when I make some for myself is that I may paint the tips of the wire red or pink to maybe hide them better, and when gluing the vein seam of the petals/leaves to make a bigger seam (about 1/4" or so) to better hide the wire too.  If I could get a slightly darker shade of red, I would use that for the last set of red leaves for more depth too - but the stock was low at the paper store.
