I had someone ask me to make this as a gift for her daughter for Christmas. Well, she asked for a body pillow. In my head, this was what she wanted. When all of a sudden I panicked and thought, "OMG! I've totally run away with this! This is totally not what she wanted!" She assured me, with glee, that this was exactly what she wanted and she is soooooo beyond excited to give it to her.

This octo probably weighs 10-12 lbs with all the stuffing and fabric. I had a lot of fun designing it. I scoured pinterest for patterns but couldn't find one that worked, so I looked at how other patterns were created and i used them loosely for my pattern drafting! I then decided that he needed a sailor hat and an  eye patch. I also decided that he definitely needed veiny eyes lol. I'm not naming the little (big) guy. I will leave that to the recipient Smiley

I used a heavy weight denim with a fuchsia sparkly strand throughout and then minky for his underside. Everything painted was done with a combination of textile medium and craft paint!

I hope you like him!

Very cool octopus; the pirate accessories and sad eye really give it a lot of personality and I like your color/fabric choices as well (the dots on the dark background give a starfield-like appearance to my eyes).  That's definitely the largest plush cephalopod I've ever seen too!

That is hilarious and awesome! He looks kinda sleepy which is pretty appropriate for a bed companion. And the minky fabric for the underside is definitely the perfect detail to emulate suckers without being super literal - awesome job!!

oh my gosh ! WOW I love the fushia color shift! I always felt like denim is a fabric that could't make anything pretty but you just proved me wrong! This is fantastic! I LOVE how big it is! I bet it took FOREVER stuffing him!
