I made this stocking for the Christmas stocking swap. Artsycandace  said she liked a woodlands theme so this is what I came up with.

All the felt critters were made using Sarafina.com  tutorials.

That is really amazing. The level of detail just blows me away! I would be so curious to see process pics, it seems like you used a whole lot of techniques for all those creatures, roots, bark and leaves. Wow, incredible work.

Unfortunately I did not take process pictures.  The main  stocking is wet felted over a resist.  I used a batt I carded with lots of different colors to get the color I wanted. I put thick yarn under the last layer to get the texture. That did not work out as well as I hoped,  but it still looked good.
The roots and branches are a really thick pipe cleaner type wire I found at Michael's which I wrapped and needle felted. The green "leaves" is some cruddy locks I had laying around that I needle felted in the branches. I wasn't sure what I would ever do with them, but they work great for this project.

The sleeping mice! Cry With a stocking this great, it wouldn't matter whether or not you ever got any presents in it.

This is absolutely amazing!! I love all the detail you put into it, and it's so original and unique. It definitely looks like something I would never put away! Can year-round stockings be a thing now? Wink Fantastic work!
