I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

Some cats don't mind accessories, like a sweater or little hat. And some cats loathe them.

I keep crocheting them though, hoping my cat, Chair, will eventually accept that she will get a new hat for each holiday and be semi-okay with wearing them. At least long enough for a decent photo.

Nope.

If you have a tolerable cat that also appreciates high fashion, here is the pattern I hooked up this afternoon.

Materials:

Green yarn of any sort, worsted weight
Size G /4.25 mm hook
A loving cat (I made do)

Leaving a long tail, ch 2, 2 sc in second ch from hook. ch 1, turn.
sc in first st, 2 sc in last st. ch 1, turn (3 st)
sc in each of the next 2 st, 2 sc in last st. ch 1, turn (4 st)
2 sc in first st, sc in each of the next 2 st, 2 sc in last st. ch 1, turn (6 st)
2 sc in first st, sc in each of the next 4 st, 2 sc in last st. ch 1, turn (8 st)
2 sc in first st, sc in each of the next 6 st, 2 sc in last st. ch 1 , turn (10 st)
sc in each st across. ch 1, turn (10 st)
sc in each st across. ch 1, turn (10 st)
sc in each st across. ch 1, turn (10 st)
sc in first st, ch 12, skip 8 st, sc in last st.
sc in first st, sc in each of the next 12 ch, sc in last st (14 st)
[sc in each of the next 14 st. ch 1, turn] x 7 (you will have seven rows of 14 st)
sc in first st, ch 8, skip 12 st, sc in last st. ch 1, turn (2 st and 8 ch)
sc in next st, sc in each of the next 8 ch, sc in last st. ch 1, turn (10 st)
sc in each of the next 10 st. ch 1, turn (10 st)
sc2tog, sc in each of the next 6 st, sc2tog. ch 1, turn (8 st)
sc2tog, sc in each of the next 4 sc, sc2tog. ch 1, turn (6 st)
sc2tog, sc in each of the next 2 sc, sc2tog. ch1, turn (4 st)
sc in first st, sc2tog, sc in last st. ch 1, turn (3 st)
sc in first st, sc2tog. ch 1, turn (2 sc)
sc2tog. (1 st) Do not ch or turn.
Continuing around the edge of the hat, sl st along until reaching the opposite end, sc 3 in single st (this is the end of the "earflap" and where there is a long tail)
Continue to sl st along other side of hat, sc 2 in end, sl st in first sl st to join. Do not fasten off.
Ch 24 (or however long you want your ties). Fasten off.
Poke the hook through the other end, where the long tail is, and using the tail, ch 24 (or however many you did on other end). Fasten off.

Tree:

ch 4, sl st in first ch to join. Do not ch or turn, on this or any round.
sc in each of the next 3 ch (3 st)
2 sc in next st, sc in each of the next 2 st (4 st)
From this point on, crochet BLO until end
2 sc in first st, sc in next 3 st (5 st)
2 sc in first st, sc in next 4 st (6 st)
2 sc in first st, sc in next 5 st (7 st)
2 sc in first st, sc in next 6 st (8 st)
2 sc in first st, sc in next 7 st (9 st)
2 sc in first st, sc in next 8 st (10 st)
2 sc in first st, sc in next 9 st (11 st)
2 sc in first st, sc in next 10 st (12 st)
2 sc in first st, sc in next 11 st (13 st)

You can add the increases wherever you want in the rounds, of course. Fasten off. So now you have a green cone with a spiral going round. Attach yarn to the last horizontal bar at the base of the tree (these bars are the unworked front loops/FL).
(sl st, ch 1, sl st) in first FL
sl st in next st
Repeat until reaching the top of the tree. Sometimes I sl st twice to vary where the "branches" of the trees protruded, but it is a hat for a cat that probably doesn't care.
Fasten off, weave ends. Sew tree to top of hat. Glue mini pom poms on tree for decoration and add medium pom pom for star. Put it on Kitty and hope for the best.

Merry Crispymouse!

I'm reporting you to the ASPCA.   Cheesy

One of my cats would wear it, the other would tear it AND me to pieces.   In fact, if he saw the other cat wearing it, he would tear it off his head; they would get into a huge fight and I'd have to pay the vet bill.  Sometimes it's cheaper not to craft.
