I have been itching to post this but had to wait until it was received and darn cross-border post takes forever!

Gozer sent me a box of awesome fussy cut fabric https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=442382.msg5410907#msg5410907 in return for a random item. Stalking her pins yielded way too many ideas but finally I settled on this one.
I had the gnome bead, used Knickertwist's mushroom making tutorial http://blog.pixiehill.com/2012/02/how-to-make-teeny-weeny-mushrooms.html, and found the rest of the bits and bobs at a craft store. Some hot-glue-burning-my-fingertips time later I had this:

My kids decided they LOVED it so I used the rest of the domes in the package plus a little bottle to make some more. I'm waiting on an order of more wee gnome beads to complete this bunch and have another package of domes to make a few more for xmas gifts.

This was so much of a good time. Thanks for the swap Gozer! XO  Kiss

Beautiful job on your little gnome domes!  I had never seen, or heard of, gnome beads until now, but whomever came up with that is a genius!  Do they come painted or did you have to do that to the little bearded fellows yourself?

Aw, thanks!
I'm not sure where I found them originally but I bought a bunch years ago, and teeny weeny owl beads as well, for 2 swaps (owl and gnome, ha ha!). There's a seller on Etsy who lists them as from Peru (that store has EVERYTHING as a tiny mini bead, I'm not kidding). They come as you see them and are amazingly detailed with different coloured hats, some with spots on the hats, and each with an itty bitty little sack slung over their shoulder. They really are the dearest most adorable things ever but such a waste just sitting in the bead drawer as an unused treasure. I'm happy these little guys have found their dome homes and will be out on display to be admired and adored, they deserve it!

Very cute!  That is a great idea for those domes.  I may steal your idea for some snowmen beads I have!

Your domes are great!  I could see a tiny woodland animal in one.  Fairies.  Anthropomorphized bugs.  An itsy xmas scene...

Thanks guys! I hope people will make some dome homes with various stuffs inside them. I have a precious Knickertwist fairy house dome that is the most amazing, adorable thing ever. It lives in my printer's drawer tchotchke shelf.
One tip, I coloured the base of the cork with green sharpie before gluing stuff on to disguise any bare spots viewable through the moss. I got the moss in a variety pack at Michael's but I'm pretty sure it can be found at dollar stores and florist shops. I used a toothpick to apply hot glue to the cork than scrunched up and wedged on moss, pressing it to get it compressed and stuck good. Hence the glue burned fingers, ouch!

Yes, when I did a shrine last year I needed a bit of moss - it was something like $8.99 at Michaels for the small bag.  I bought a large bag at Dollarama for probably $2, and haven't even used 5% of it.

I'm not as willing to sacrifice my flesh to the glue gun gods - I used 2 part epoxy Smiley

Where did you get the domes?

Michael's, it's a Holtz 4 pack with 2 of each size. I had ordered something completely different when I stumbled on those.
I have so much moss left too, lol.

aha!  I thought they looked familiar - love the entire Tim Holtz line.  I have some old tea cups and was going to make some tea cup fairy gardens for my SIL with some of my moss.

Aw, how awesome. I owe it all to Knickertwist and her wee mushroom tutorial. Love this place!

I recently received some small gnomes that look more like the garden statue variety, I'm going to have to put them in domes too. I almost want to find some little flamingos to go with them, ha ha Cheesy.
