Hi all!

Lana is starting a new project for her club (Difference Makers) that involves our new DM Elf doing some Random Acts of Kindness around her school and our neighborhood.  The idea is to use the elf to do these RAKs anonymously.  Since we can't leave the elf at the actual place she will be leaving a photo of the elf in some cases...in some I'll just take a pic for fun and maybe the DM book.

So far Lana has decided to give pencils away at school, bookmarks at our local library, and candy for their DM party.  She is also opening it up to everyone in DM and hoping that some of them will join in.  I'm hoping my Craftster friends will have some quick, easy, and fun ideas for other RAKs that she and the others can carry out.  The only thing is that they should be economical and relatively easy to do.

Thanks!
Roxanne

P.S.  Here's a pic of the DM Elf.  I made him his very own DM tee that I'm a little proud of...esp since I had to embroider onto the tee after I had stitched it up.  Originally I was going to use an iron-on, but my paper was old and it didn't work.  Sad

OK - awesome ELF shirt!!!!

What about leaving dog poop bags and buckets of water at dog parks.  Not treats - there have been too many incidents of poisoned treats left by haters in recent memory.

There is the giving bunny pattern at Urban Threads - could be a fun craft project for kids to make and decorate and leave at a local Children's Hospital.  What about collecting free/gently used books for daycares, schools in need.  Same with crafting supplies - day cares, kids programs, senior day cares or Montessori programs could use those.  If you can find yarn stashes, what about making scarves for the homeless or those in need?

Random street clean up, raking leaves for people?

Hi Onyx!
Love the idea of dog poop bags and water!!  I'll have to tell that one to them!!!
DM is doing a book drive in January and has already done a couple of drives for school supplies.   They didn't rake leaves for the elderly this year (no interest), but will be starting Snow Angels as soon as we get some snow.  I'll have to see how much can be crafted.  The problem really is time.  They need to do quick RAKs at home because all of their after school time is already accounted for.
I did think of another...leaving pennies or other monies for kids to find.

THANKS for your ideas!!!!!  Keep 'em comin!

What about some nature RAKs?

Saving onion bags and hanging up nesting materials for birds in the Spring, leaving out piles of seed for birds and squirrels?  As a crafting project, the kids could make suet balls or turn this into a tree decorating thing for the season - popcorn and dried berry garlands for trees.

Ooh, that is a great idea Onyx!!!!  Making suet balls would be a fun easy project.  We just got a tub of Crisco for Thanksgiving too.  Smiley  Thanks!!!!

Lana is starting the first one today.  She putting this sign next to a tub of sharpened pencils.  (I took the opportunity to purchase an electric pencil sharpener for this!)  I can't wait to see how it went over.  She is planning to do this 2 more times during the holidays.

I love this, and all of the work they do!  The shirt is totally cute.  I can't think of any ideas, but I just wanted to show some love for DM.  Grin  Also, that photo is adorable!

Aw, thank you for the DM love, Lovely Miss!!!  Lana finished her last batch of pencils today.  It was funny how much the kids enjoyed the pencils.  I guess a freshly sharpened pencil is always a happy thing.  Smiley

I'm doing a secret one for her club with tiny candy canes next week.  Hopefully we'll do a few more as a family for the holidays! Smiley

Here's the next one for the school.  We'll be giving out some paper elves (posted similar ones in the 50 things) and bookmarks.  Smiley

And I recycled the photo for DM and the candy canes because I don't have the elf atm.  Their sponsor has him because he's doing his RAK (treating a family in need to their groceries).  I hope to get it back in time so that we can do a small RAK for the staff/teachers and take a new picture!
