We moved into a gorgeous little cottage last year, (and although we are renting) I have been DIY'ing non stop! One of the first projects we needed to get done was to house my books. They were stacked all over the place, and drove my boyfriend CRAZY.
Actually building a bookcase was out of the question, as no funds, and, you can't screw anything of weight into the horse-hair walls! After a little research, (Pinterest) I saw these Ikea Hacks. Decided to give it a go!
It isn't perfect, but I love it !

Amazingly, the measurements worked out perfectly, and I could fit the bookcases all the way along, with just enough space on the edge to add the borders.

Because of the wonky walls, floors, and ceilings, The bookcases all needed to be screwed together because they all sat at different sloping angles. They also needed to be screwed to the wall to stop them toppling over!!

I used these AWESOME screws..!

We also had to wedge wooden strips to keep it up straight. I was always planning to add a border along the bottom, so these would never be seen, but I didn't quite manage it!

This is how it looked with the shelves that came with the bookcase, and I had to wait a few months to afford more!

Once the extra shelves were added, I could attach the borders to make it look like a built in bookcase.

This is how it looks all finished, in the room! I am SO happy with it, all I have ever wanted is a place to display my books, and I am chuffed I manage to pull off even half of what I had imagined. I find myself just sat gazing at it!

Thanks for looking!  Grin
