I have crafting ADHD. Seriously.

This Halloween was my first making a costume for my toddler son, who shall henceforth be referred to as Cheeks.  His first Halloween (in 2015) he was an infant, and I was exhausted, so he had to endure a store-bought monkey costume.  So glad I had enough gumption to dress him up this year!

I had machinations of family Wizard of Oz costumes for the whole fam, but I'm a mom of a 15 month old, and my sewing eyes are always bigger than my stomach, so we just have our sweet little tin man!

I used Simplicity 4024 (http://www.simplicity.com/simplicity-pattern-4024-toddler-wizard-of-oz-costumes/U04024A.html) and a silver poly/spandex lame knit from Fabric.com:  https://www.fabric.com/buy/0337429/polyester-spandex-lame-jersey-knit-metallic-silver

The biggest pain in the ass I encountered while putting this together was definitely the joints; they were 36 pieces of fabric to make a total of 12 joints.  The second most pain in the ass thing was the 20 buttons I had to sew on by hand.

For the heart, I used some quilting cotton my aunt gave me <3.  Instead of embroidering the clock face, I used some black Siser Easyweed heat transfer vinyl and "traced" an image of a clock I found online, which I cut with my Silhouette Cameo.  I did a teeny tiny offset (basically an outline of the existing image) to bulk the whole thing up when I destroyed the first version whilst weeding (AKA removing the negative spaces before ironing on).

I used fleece to line the helmet because it's cold Trick or Treating here in Wisconsin.  The funnel is just a $1 cheapie from Farm and Fleet that I spray painted silver.

Because the fabric shows pinholes and is too plastic-y to use an iron on, I used wonder clips to "pin" seams together and "press" the hems up.

Even though it took way longer than I imagined (doesn't everything, though, when it comes to crafting?) I think it turned out pretty well!  Wink  Bonus:  Cheeks didn't seem to mind wearing it at all!

You can see more photos and construction details on my (mostly sewing-centric) blog:  https://sometimessewist.wordpress.com/2016/10/31/if-i-only-had-a-heart/

Thanks for taking a peek!  Smiley

First of all, you deserve a medal just for working with that kind of material (stretchy and slippery and shiny...oh, my) not to mention all the other amazing little details you've added to this wonderful costume. Phenomenal job!

p.s. Cheeks is cracking me up in that first photo. He's all kicked back like, "Hey ladies, whatcha think of my silver suit?" A-dorbs.

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.
