There is a beehive in the eaves of my house. They are wild bees and doing their own thing, bees are under such pressure in the world that any little corner where they are safe, is good for the planet. So they and I have an agreement, I leave them alone and they leave me alone. The hive is high up, so no danger to anyone.

In honour of the bees I cut out this lino cut and did a few fabric prints. The yellow bodies are just a separate stamp which was overlayed with black. Not enough detail in the smaller bee, but this was a quick and dirty cut.

I've really started to like the effect on printed fabric

very busy this one!

EDIT
I have just made the first item with some of this fabric. A fellow craftster has inspired me to do random acts of craftiness, so this will be on the way to someone as a surprise. It is a simple zippered pouch with a little extra butterfly fabric (this was done with a potato print rather than a lino cut) I hope she likes it!

This is super cool! I'm not sure I understand how you got the effect but I love it! My parents have bees so it reminds me of them Smiley

This is so beautiful. I have a mushroom print of yours from the Craftster Trading Card Swap that is just wonderful. I would so enjoy seeing process pics sometime if you feel like it.

I have a fondness for bees of the wild variety, we're going to build an insect habitat in the garden next year for the mason bees etc. Just lovely edelC.

The effect is fairly simple. I cut out the design in lino, (reversed, but this image doesn't make much of a difference) then I use fabric paint on a piece of mirror. Work it with a roller until there is a thin even coat on the mirror and then roll it onto the lino cut. Then just press it onto the fabric. I eyeball it so they are never entirely regular, but the yellow one surprised me, the symmetry of the layout works really well.

Pottermouth I have no real plans as such. I cut up a little of the green to make a pouch (running home shortly to make it up) the rest, open to suggestion!!

craftylittlemonkey Thank you for the compliment *blushes* I am more than happy to do a tute/process shots. My problem is that I am always stuck for inspiration! So suggest something if you like and I will have a go.

Ha! that might have been my first one, not brilliant, but I liked it. made a great cushion out of it and had AirBnB guests all summer, it vanished somewhere along the line Sad
