Our friend's little girl has one of those 18" dolls that are so popular, not sure which one it is but it's similar to American Girl and Maple Lea, I think Our Adventure or something like that?
Anyhow, it was her bday today so I made her a dress with a matching skirt for herself and the same skirt for my daughter who wore it to the party. I borrowed some of the doll clothes on the sly to pattern draft from and thankfully it fit very well.

It's got little buttons on the sleeve cuffs, matching trim at neckline and hem, and a Velcro closing in back.

And the skirts for the girls (only one pictured here, full circle skirts are hard to lay out for photos!).
The black waistband is a cut up tshirt with elastic insert and the rectangle of spotted fabric as a detail.

The skirts took maybe an hour, free hand cutting with just a few measurements. That dress was more like 6! Whew.

How darling!  I bet she was over the moon with her present from you...and to have a matching outfit...what a little girl's dream!

lol I think it is funny that the tiny doll dress took way longer than the two girls' skirts!  The tiny button on the sleeve is such a nice touch!

Thank you! I raided the special button bin to find something with a little detail.
I think it will go faster the next time, I learned a few things about stitching sequence on very small garments that differs from the larger version.

So cute! The circle skirt is so sassy; I'm sure the girls love wearing them.

Beautiful set!  Isn't it funny how the littler things do indeed take significantly more time Smiley
