Underthemountain and Alteredmommy ran a fabulous swap called the Craftster Trading Card Swap in August. The idea was to send a trading card with your image on it, and some stats about you on the back. (kind of like a baseball or hockey card) It was a really fun swap with a flood of snail mail.  For my card i decided to go with a medium that I like, but never do enough of: Needle Felting.

This is my needle felted me!

I manipulated the image in Pixelmatr, which is a photoshop like program, adding the back ground and frame, and words to achieve this:

Then I printed off around 35 of my images (and the back image) onto sticker paper, and did some paper craft magic to make them all the right size, and shipped them all off! It was an excellent swap!

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

For a second there, until I read all of your text, I thought that you had actually needle-felted a portrait of yourself for everyone who participated in the swap; that would have been a crazy amount of work!  This was a really cool way to do your self portrait--awesome job!

I know!  I'd have been way late sending... lol this one alone took me a solid day and a half... It's a lot bigger than needed tho, so that accounts for some of the time... but none the less, it would have taken much longer than that to have made 27 individual 2x3 me's....

Thanks!  My hair has since changed colours, again, but when I was making the self portrait it was definitely blue and brown Smiley

Wonderful! I'm inspired to do some family portraits - far too long since I did any felting.

It sounds fun. This must need lots of effort to do all the processes. Never thought to apply photoshop with felt before. Must be lot of fun!!! Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.

Thanks so much everyone!  I've been trying to come up with concepts to do more art this way, making me able to spread the love a little more easily. I was glad of the swap to finally let me try out my ideas.  I always need "permission" to play with my different abilities to discover new ones, swapping gives me that permission.

Beautiful portrait.
It's such a great idea to make people's faces out of felt.
