I have a huge bin of leftover DK weight yarn from the many afghan projects I do...I hate them...they seem to multiply each week...

I decided to try to keep up, so I am doing projects that I can finish quickly and give away...like mandalas (which my hubby thinks are just colorful doilies...Grin)...

Mandalas are a fun way to test out color combos as well:

purple, cream, lime

grey, yellow, cream, burgandy

teal, baby blue, cream, grey

These are free patterns I found in the net and one I just made up as I ran out of yarn...

Thanks for looking!

Those are really lovely!  The bottom one is my favourite, I think, but they're all awesome - makes me wish I knew more crochet.  Smiley

What do you use these for?

They can be matted into a hoop to hang or you can use them for mats under flower pots, tea kettles, etc. They aren't necessarily made for anything practical...just for pretty! Grin

Thanks everyone!  I agree...I do like the last one best!

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

All of them are pretty! Depending on their size, they could also be used to cover jar tops or lids of things, with a ribbon running through to secure it.

Nary a wonky stitch, AIMR. Nary!

Your color combinations are so wonderful!  I would have never thought to put cream, lime and purple together.  Lovely work!
