I don't think I've ever posted on this board, and just recently started playing around with pottery again! (It's been at least 11 or 12 years!)

Anyway, I thought I'd post this little set of bowls, mostly because I wasn't sure what colors the slip glazes would end up...

I used a chunky soldate clay, just because I like playing with it (and its heft, haha!).  Before the second (cone10) firing, the colors looked like this:

I like that they ended up with a black/grey color scheme!

Thank you for looking!

what fun designs!
is the interior glazing pale blue-gray on off white?  Quel subtle!

so what does it feel like to hold these bowls?  they look rough like granite in the carved areas, but maybe you have a clear glaze on them?  The carving would be nice on a mixing bowl, you could hold it more easily.

very cool! the color makes them look like carved stone bowls or granite as steiconi commented.

Neat looking bowls; I like the "wavy" checkerboard and circle patterns the best out of the three.

When I first saw the thumbnail image, on Craftster's main page, I thought that the stacked bowls were some kind of abstract sculpture!

Thanks everyone!

steiconi, they're a little bit heavy but there is a greyish clear glaze on them, so the "sandy" looking parts (because of the grog) have texture, but aren't rough or sharp.

Very beautiful! love that the patterns are inside and out. I am really loving the circles and the texture showing through the glaze.
