I recently participated in the I Want to Live in the Burrow Swap and one of my partner's requests was for a mug rug. She also listed one of her favorite quotes as "I solemnly swear..." and once I read that my brain gears started turning...

So, I went down to the local fabric store and almost peed my pants when I found this fabric!!

It was a done deal.. And the cherry on top was the bolt was in the super reduced sale cabinet sooo naturally I bought the rest Tongue

I decided to do a simple quilt pattern (which proved to be quite difficult for me due to the fact that I have limited experience quilting) with quilt batting in the middle. The fabric configuration is reversed on the back.

I then used Jacquard Textile Colour to paint my Marauder's designs on the front and back. The designs are adapted from images I found through Google and hand painted on the fabric. My process was quite convoluted because I like to do things the hard way Tongue I drew the designs on paper, then traced/hand drew them on fabric with pencil, then painted overtop with textile colour.

I also included this mug with an Albus Dumbledore quote to make it a bit of a HP set:

The quote was drawn on using one of those fancy ceramic pens from Micheal's Tongue

I thoroughly hope my partner, fatewineroses, enjoys her mug and mug rug for many years to come! I was pretty happy with how it turned out so I might have to make one for myself! Eventually...

What a find that fabric was. It's perfect! And I can't believe you painted that quote. Great job! Your partner will love it for sure!

I am super impressed with your painting on fabric. I always have a really hard time getting fabric to apply smoothly even with fabric medium. Your lettering is also amazing on both pieces. I love the mug and the rug <3

Thank you PerfectlyBohemian! It was a challenge, I really like the Jacquard fabric ink I have though because it has more of a watery consistency. It's much easier to work with.

I absolutely love my mug rug and mug! I'm not shocked you hand painted it; but am so very impressed . At first I thought it was stamped; but couldn't figure out how you would do that.
I had a hard time keeping my mom from it when she vivisted this weekend.  Grin
