So, my honey and I are balloon twisters and a couple of weeks ago my sweetheart expressed wishing that he had a balloon apron for greater variety in our offering (being able to wander from our booth, etc.) Well, a quick search online will give you balloon aprons for a pretty penny so I opted to make my own. There are not any instructions online but through looking at a variety of photographs and deciding what our needs were that needed to be met I was able to come up with a plan. I did a lot of sniping and ripping and just guessing at what size felt right, but in the end I am extremely happy with how it turned out and my honey loves using it.

Here he is trying on the apron after I finished it. (I brought it to the festival we wanted to use it at because I had some hand-sewing on snaps to do before calling it done.) The black strips at the top are removable with three snaps on each strips. There are ten Velcro sections per strip for bundles of twisting balloons. The sides have zippers so it is easier to load the apron. There are many pockets for rounds and pens and such as well as retractable cords for scissors and a pump.

Here is the apron partially loaded. It worked so well I hope to make myself one eventually.

I did not take many in progress pictures because it was a bit frustrating to figure out, making it up as I went along. But here are a couple...

Cool apron!  Super neat that you guys twist balloons Artsy!  Lana used to love those so much as a kid.  So much so that my mom got her a tiny kit.  I think Lana only learned to make a few of the very simplest things, but she had loads of fun.  I bet you and your hubby are making lots of kids (and their parents) very happy!  Smiley

Fun AND functional! Well done on including so many features (velcro, zippers, retractable cords) - I know how challenging that can be!

And thanks for the progress shots, too. I love it when those are shown!

Very nice work making something that is unique to what you guys need!

That is what I love most about sewing...you can customize anything!

I am sure you learned a few things tha will help you when you make your own apron!

What a fun and functional project!  Your hubs looks happy to have it!

WOW! What a great solution! After looking at yours and reading all the details, I can see why they might be expensive to buy!

Oooh, I've been wanting one of these, but the online ones are so expensive, and I've been pretty chicken to sew my own lol.  Yours looks great, colors are eye catching, perfect for a twister apron.  Maybe yours will inspire me to make one after all!
Great work!

Right? It all made sense when I thought I'd just make it myself. Ha! Cheesy

Thank you everyone. I am not a big sewer, I mean, I don't follow patterns well, so these moments are rare.
