My mom taught me how to sew today. I chose 4-way stretch fabric, much to my mom's chagrin. Both incredibly pleased with the result, finally a skirt I can wear to work that suits my personal style!

ahhh--the joy of sewing!  Your skirt turned out really nice!

Now you will have the chance to make things to wear suited to your own personality...which is the main reason I learned how to sew decades ago!

Good for your mom for passing on a skill that you will have always!

Cute fabric and nice style!

That is such a fun fabric stitched into a classic cut. Good job!

Great skirt.  So...a spandex skirt with pink dolphins is workwear for you???  (Do I sound like I'm peering over the top of my reading glasses and saying tsk tsk?)  Must be a fun place to work!

My mom taught me to sew because it used to be cheaper to make your own clothes than to buy ready made.  THAT has sure changed!  I wanted a summer dress but couldn't find one I liked, so I spent $27 on fabric for one dress.  Then I stopped by Ross and bought THREE finished dresses for $26.

I tell myself that the fabric I bought is better quality and will long outlast the cheaper ready made dresses.  I'm sure it will, because it will probably be years before I get around to stitching it up!

I carry a bag that says FREE KNITTING LESSONS on my daily transit commute, & give a little hands-on tutorial to anyone who asks. They get a starter kit with needles, enough cotton yarn to make a plain dishcloth and a set of instructions. Swaps/donations for materials welcome!

That's a really cool and fun pattern to choose for a skirt; I bet the kids where you work got a kick out of it too!

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.
