Ok i have a question for my crafty friends here.... i used liquid rit dye on 100% cotton (a combo of the magenta and purple dye). When I dyed my fabric it was the exact shade of purple I wanted. Even after heat setting, washing and drying it. When i went to iron it, the heat turned it pink.

Did I do something wrong? Ive used rit before and never had this problem so i was just curious since i still need purple fabric.

Can i dye it again? Maybe with more purple in the mix? Honestly im at a complete loss here.
I do have a pic, not the best, but its 3am so no natural light available.t he bottom section is the color i wanted and the top is what it turns into when ironed.

Did it stay that way after it cooled off?  I noticed that a lot of purples turn pink under heat but they turn back after they cool.  I would dye it again and then use a cool iron with maybe a cloth or parchment paper between..

Just what I wanted to ask too: did it stay like that?
Because most cotton fabrics change color when you iron them, but return to their right color once they cool down again.

It purpled up a bit when cooled but was definitely still pink.

I think i  might try that always in my room. Thank you  Smiley

BeaG, I had no idea that the color changes happen. That's actually good to know. This was sort of a practice scale for a huge dye project I want to do later.

I mostly seem to have problems with synthetics changing color when I iron...I have had browns turn almost orange and blacks turn a weird shade of reddish brown as well...good luck!  I know that when you want a color that is in your mind, you have to have it! Grin
