I went ahead and made another bottle opening with magnetic cap catcher! This one is for outside: it'll live mostly on the deck, but will be movable so we can it by the cornhole pitch, too.

I bought the opener and the big ol' magnet, but had the wood scrap and log oil finish on hand.

Well, thank you!

That is beeeeautiful...but tell me more about that big ol' magnet

The magnet is a niodymium (rare earth) magnet, 1.5" x 1/2" (I think). The estimated pull strength is approximately 75# so it can pull through the wood. I wasn't able to find anything this big locally, so I found it online. Kinda spendy.

That's a fun idea and the look of the opener is ideal.

Thanks everyone!

Both the opener and the magnets were sourced online.

That's a really cool project--I didn't know that they made fancy bottle openers like that, and the Green Man is great subject matter (I bet his leaves would look even cooler done up in metallic green paint).

Just make sure that users keep that rare earth magnet away from their electronics, like cell phones, or bad things will happen!
