Hello! Iíve recently taken up arm-knitting. So far, Iím  really enjoying it.
Iíve decided to challenge myself to arm knit a 5x7 rectangle area rug.
I have searched for tutorials and so far have only found tutorials for round rugs.
Since I couldnít find a tutorial geared specifically toward rectangle rugs, I decided to adapt existing techniques to my needs- but Iím not sure which would be best.
There were a couple of techniques Iím thinking to try using several skeins of Bernat Blanket Big yarn in Jumbo 7.

Option 1- Arm knit a blanket, then attach to a non-slip rug pad.
Option 2- Cut thread into pieces and weave the thread through garden netting- sort of like a Pom-Pom technique, as pictured in this photo linked here.

For this option, I thought to brush a very lite coating of Modge Podge Fabric Glue on the ends to prevent fraying.
The rug would be in my living room. I use the living room a lot, but I  donít have kids or pets that could destroy it.

What do you all think? Do you think either of these is a viable option for creating an area rug?
