Here are some ideas:

---a wine cozy (gift bag) out of some yummy fabric. present it to them with an inexpensive bottle of wine
---decorative wine glass charms made from earring clasps and your choice of embellishment.  present in an embellished tin.
---take a small canvas or piece of wood or drywall (4x4) and paint (or decoupage) a fun picture of the couple and put the date of their engagement on it.  I actually made a "trio" of them for my friend : Our First Date, Our Engagement, & Our Wedding.  That way they can hang up "their story" in their home!
for added kicks, you can even affix a decorative ribbon to hang the piece with.
---make placemats as you would a floorcloth. Mitre the edges, paint like mad and varnish like it's going out of style!

Hmm, how about these ...

1] Make them a spiffy guest book that they can use at their wedding.

2] Make them a scrapbook or album that they can fill with new memories as they begin their new life together.

3] Find a cool photo that you have of the couple (ideally one that they've never seen before) and frame it. If you enjoy writing poetry (and if your friends go for poetry), write something special about them and include this with the framed photo.

But I'm sure that whatever you create for your friends, regardless of the amount of money you spend, they'll appreciate it because it will be coming from the heart and you'll have put so much effort into it. Smiley

I didn't want to start yet another topic asking for advise on making an engagement gift.
This person is 25 and she is very dear to my heart even though we haven't seen each other for a while.
I would really like to make, or put togther, something special for her and her fiance, but I'm not sure what to do.
Any help?

I sort of like the wedding guest book idea. anyone have info on how to do it?

how about a small photo album to fill with pics related to their planning the wedding? or maybe a fabric bowl for their dining table or nicely decorated photo frame for an engagement photo? personallly i would shy away from anything intended to be used at the wedding itself, just b/c they may want to do something else or want a different style/colors, who knows....a little hard to determine exact tastes there  Wink though maybe nice champagne flutes would be an exception
