How do I spell pain?  "c-r-o-c-h-e-t-b-e-n-d-e-r"   Wink
This project was so hard and drawn out.  And while I'm not 100% happy with the rather sloppy result, I am glad to be done with it, and that it came out looking like who it was supposed to look like, albeit in a rather scary way...

I was very much inspired by the works here:
but I wanted something that I made myself (gift for hubby) and I wanted to give bender a body that would actually hold stuff.  Here he is with his body door open:

So glad to be done, I had to post it somewhere. Smiley Phew, thanks for looking!

Some kind of crocheted alcoholic beverage is definitely the plan for his compartment, I just couldn't muster up the motivation today. I considered doing a cigar as well, but I'm afraid that it will end up looking too much like a crocheted turd.    Lips sealed

how does he keep his shape if hes not stuffed?

then looking upward i strain my eyes & try, to tell the difference between shooting stars & statellites, from the passenger seat as you are driving me home. "do they collide?" i ask & you smile. with my feet on the dash the world doesn't matter.

_I can't crochet. I can't knit. Hell, I can't even sew a straight line to save my life but this project has inspired me to look more into crocheting.

Aw, thanks for the compliments!
I was kind of worried that he was too goofy and sloppy looking, but now I am feeling more encouraged.  Smiley
Btw, I have only been crocheting for just less than a year, once you get the hang of single crochet, increasing, and decreasing (very simple), it is easy to start creating basic shapes.  It is almost like sculpting in way.
His compartment is actually a cut portion of a 2 litre pop bottle. I just crocheted a cover for it, really, and then lined the inside with felt.  I used a similar method, but with felt on the outside, for hubby's bday present last year - Gir toy with head compartment:
Important to know - pop bottle plastic (unlike bubble bath bottle plastic) shrinks and warps when in contact with hot glue.  I learned this the hard way... had to completely redo the door, and portions of the rest of the body compartment warped slightly too.  Eek!
