Hi all!

I wanted to show you a cool project I am working on at the moment. I was gifted a vintage knitting pattern book from 1984, in which contestants entered their patterns to win a competition to design Princess Diana a jumper.

I really liked a particular design because it had these military esque pads at the shoulders and elbows and an interesting embroidery technique. I would never wear the original pullover itself from the catalog:

I'd also been planning on knitting a sweater themed to my current obsession with the Alien franchise. I thought, I'd take this slightly military looking pattern, and twist it to have a Weyland-Yutani corp logo in the intarsia . However I didn't think the original black/orange/yellow colourway from the movies would particularly suit, then I saw Alien 3 with the muted colour schemes of the prison uniforms. I selected a dark brown for my edges and shoulder/ elbow pads, a light brown for the body and a near-black for the intarsia logo.

Some redrafting:

Starting (I was not reading the pattern right and then realised I had to double my DK strands! It looked so lacy and I had to frog a lot of it) :

Let me know what you think! It's a work in progress and I'm changing the design even now.
