I made this for Rackycoo in the most recent IYP swap. She is a fan of vintage images of children, the circus, and the color combination red and turquoise. I decided to smoosh them all together in this fabric book.

I used a combination of techniques to create this piece. First I purchased a digital file with vintage images of children. I printed them all onto an iron-on material (I made sure to reverse all the images before printing) then ironed them onto some white muslin. I don't measure the pieces I cut so I just started snipping and tearing strips of fabric from the fabric I'd picked up. I quilted the printed photographs into larger squares then started to embellish them. I found a small handful of circus images online that I printed in the same fashion as the pictures of the children and added those to some of the squares. I added a variety of trims, buttons, lace, and other accessories. Two images are even painted. Each page has a layer of batting and is backed in a coordinating fabric. I used a strip of bright turquoise down each open side then stitched the pages together with embroidery floss. This was a really fun project and I hope to create others like it eventually.

Thank you for the wonderful kind words. I had a blast with this piece. In truth I had originally hoped to make it almost twice the pages, but found that the process took longer than I had originally anticipated. I know it has found a great home with rackycoo.  Cheesy
