My sister was saying she wanted a new purse and since she's bad about losing her purse (never when she's out anywhere, always at home), I made her one using Red Heart's Blacklight yarn so that it would be easier to spot; the strap is Red Heart Black. I crocheted it using two strands of yarn held together and a J-hook so that it would be sturdier and wouldn't need a lining sewn in; she prefers a purse without a closure so that it's easier for her to get to her inhaler if she needs it.
My friend loved the colors so much that she asked if I could make one for her birthday gift. However, she wanted a smaller one, one that was "just big enough for [her] cellphone, 3DS, and one of [her] Magic decks". Since I didn't have a button that I thought would look good with the Blacklight yarn, I crocheted a cover onto a button before sewing it on.
The tiny pink/brown purse is for my cousin's two year-old, who LOVES purses and is always trying to steal her aunts' or Mawmaw's purses. I made it using the yarn I had left over from making her aunt's purse because her favorite color is pink. The yarn is Loops & Threads Charisma in Chocolate Cupcake.
My sister's purse was made by making three rectangles: one for the front, a slightly larger one for the back, and a long narrow one for the strap. I sewed the ends of the strap together then pinned it to the sides and sewed them together. My friend's purse was made from two rectangles: one for the front and back, which I folded over, and one long narrow one for the strap. The pattern for the mini purse was made up as a I went along.

These purses were made as an experiment in which I attempted to make my own simple yet elegant purse pattern. They turned out much better than I expected. Both purses are worked in the round. When I reached the desired depth, I worked a row 'til I reached the desired length. I then cut the yarn and started at the edge of the flap and worked it across, skipping a few stitches at the center of the flap for the button hole. Once I reached the end, I turned and worked back across the row.
I made some notes for both of these purses but I'm not too sure that they'll be much use as I can't quite decipher them myself! Tongue But I will be attempting another purse from it and hope to make more coherent notes so that I can share the pattern!
The pink/brown purse is Loops & Threads Charisma in Chocolate Cupcake and the blue multicolor is Loops & Threads Charisma in Northern Lights.

Thanks Cheesy
I'm hoping to refine the pattern sometime in the next week or so.
