My partner in the latest One Tiny Bird Swap was artsycandice...can I just say that she is incredibly talented and so nice!?  I told her I wanted to try something different for this swap and she was game!

I basically found a picture online of an owl, drew an outline on white muslin and then sort of winged it with my machine...the biggest pain was changing colors as I can barely see the needle anymore, but I muddled through!  The owl itself is about 3-4 inches high.  It was fun and interesting...I hope by doing more, I will get better as I really do love using my sewing machine as much as possible and I am pretty awful at hand embroidery! Grin

Here is my free-form machine embroidered barred owl!

Close-up:  I used four different colors...my next project has a lot more colors.

Thanks for looking!

wow that is fantastic.  I have a huge love for owls and this is so cool.  If I tried that it would literally look like something I pulled from my trash.  Huge failure.  I think you found a hidden talent.

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

Ow wow! Such gorgeous work!  Shocked Your stitching is impeccable, and I love that you've placed the owl slightly off-kilter from the frame's center. Beautiful.

Thanks everyone!  My partner was so easy to work with...

pottermouth--sometimes lucky things happen when you make a slight --erm, cutting mistake--- Wink.  I was hoping the off-kilter would look like it was on purpose...my other choice would have been to use a round frame that was a bit too small...ha ha...secrets revealed!
