Here is a painting of a Blue and Gold Macaw I just finished. He is painted on a naturally molted Blue and Gold Macaw feather, in acrylic paint.

This is something I've never seen before, a bird painting on an actual bird feather--that's really neat!

Is paint seeping through the individual veins/hairs (or whatever they're called) on the feather problematic while you're doing it?

Just beautiful!

Do you have to seal the feather with anything before you paint?

Thank you! No, I do not do anything to the feather before I paint it.

Thank you! The paint will sometimes come through a little bit, but as long as you are careful on the first layer of paint, it is usually okay.
