Swap name: Quilt Block Swap – Round 9
Gallery link: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=443395.msg5368449
Craftster member who is organizing this swap:  carolmb and sloth003
Sign-up date range: Feb 1- Feb 14, 2016 (I may close early if sign ups slow down that last week & we have rounded groups of people)
Crafting time: Feb 15-April 17, 2016
Date to send item by: April 18, 2016

Limited to a certain number of people? No, but will need to end in multiples of fives, so I may close early to meet this.  If you are waiting to sign up, please stalk the thread to make sure you don’t miss out in case it does close early!

Restricted to people who all live in the same country? No: if you join, you are agreeing to ship internationally

Additional Age requirement? No

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES
- Is at least 18 years old: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES
- Participant has agreed that he/she is at least 16 years old: YES
- If within the US, understands that Delivery Confirmation number is required for this swap: YES
- If outside the US, understands that a mailing receipt copy is required for this swap: YES

Details of swap:
This is a swap for 12.5 inch quilt blocks*. People will be organized into groups of 5 and will send 3 blocks to each of the 4 other people in their group, for a total of 12 blocks per group. Swappers with excellent swap feedback may do more than 1 group (up to 3). Within each group it should cost about $12 total to send out to 4 people, with delivery confirmation (assuming within the US). Please keep shipping costs in mind when choosing your number of groups.

*If you fall in love with a pattern that yields a different sized block you can use it, up to 14 inches, but be sure to specify the size that it makes so that your partners aren't confused. Also if you pick a smaller then 12.5 block and wish more than the 3 blocks, please make that known in your questionnaire as well.

Everyone chooses their block or blocks that they would like made for them. It could be a specific block with an online link to the pattern or a general type (i.e., pinwheels or appliqued birds). Keep in mind that people of different skill levels are involved, so please don't pick a super advanced block unless you also pick an easier block to go with it.

You will also choose your color palette. That could be a color family, a couple of particular colors, or something as vague as "brights" or “scrappy” if you want to leave it up to the other swappers' interpretations. You maybe also/instead specify certain fabric patterns if they are vague enough, like plaid, stripe, polka dots, etc. Try to only be as specific as you need to be so that people can work from their stash as much as possible.

You must use 100% cotton fabric and press your seams as you put your blocks together, unless your partner(s) have specifically stated otherwise.  Most who take part in this swap are pre-washers, if unsure ask your group to make sure all fabric is washed or not washed.
A couple of the galleries to get ideas

Measure your blocks before you send them out! They need to be 12.5 inches square. Send all squares in a Ziploc style bag for protection.

Newbies are not allowed in this swap because there are multiple send outs.

Please make sure to post in this thread to keep up with swap announcements. You will not be approved until you have posted here.

Please do not sign up until you have decided on your pattern and colors.  If you just want scrappy or sampler blocks, please specify that.

Communication is very important to me! You must pm your partner(s) and myself when you send out and receive.  There will also be communication among your group: please respond to questions within a few days.

Since this swap is for multiple send outs, I reserve the right to refuse anyone with bad feedback regarding communication and/or late sending.

Oh, marvellous!  Smiley  Due to cold lurgies and work over the weekend, I didn't manage to do a block tutorial yet, but will try and do one today (or the next couple of days, anyway) and then I'll sign up.

I haven't picked out the blocks I want for this round, but I will!  I know I have a few quilts from previous swaps that are waiting for more blocks to finish them.  I can't wait to see what everyone picks because I really do love learning new blocks and getting better at old blocks...

and, I finally got a new 1/4" foot for my sewing machine...I hope it helps me make more accurate blocks...I am a bit upset that some of my blocks last round were a bit "short"...

I'll be signing up as soon as I figure out which block (notice the singular description) I need to complete an on-going quilt. Carol is suppose to hurt me if I sign up for more than one group this round. Of course, it might be worth the pain if it meant we got to meet face-to-face.  Grin

I think one group would be  so mean. I could never be so mean to myself.

That said I'm all in for three this round. I just have to narrow the thirty or so blocks I want down to three. And three colour palettes.

I would hope a face to face would not involve pain..but I guess whatever it takes hehheheh

I have three blocks picked and tested, depending on how many sign up as to how many groups I actually join
