June 20 Check In

So I don't really know what a blender fabric is as I have never heard the term before. So I guess I don't really have a favorite. Honestly when I am planning a quilt, I just find fabric I like. I don't really have a particular style or go to for fabrics (at least I don't think I do).

Not that I'm trained at all (self-taught, yo!) but traditional quilting theory seems to be usually taught to start with a focus fabric (maybe a busier print) and then mix in some "blender" fabrics made up of colors within that focus fabric to complement the focus fabric. I quilt that way sometimes, but lots of "modern" quilting seems to just use a lot of what would be considered blender fabrics, but I think it maybe just goes back to a simpler aesthetic?

Hamilton ON ( i was outvoted Sad i think theres' prettier places to hang out) on Friday, Saturday we are popping into Toronto to play at a very special location.
There will be a meet and greet tea, in person swaps, crafty sessions with screen printing and shibori indigo dyeing and bookmark making... Should be fun.

Joking aside - my Quilt Club buddies will kill me if I don't show up on Friday!  XD - flights from the UK to Canada at hilariously short notice are a lot more affordable than I imagined they'd be.  *files away for future reference*

If this weekend was payday and you were meeting in BC I would for real drive up there. But alas.

AW, that quilt is going to look amazing when it's finished!

June 20th Check In

Right now, I don't have a specific blender fabric preference. I've been working mostly with pre-cuts. I did need to add a fabric to the baby quilt I finished, and it was some sort of mottled, tone on tone fabric that read like a solid. I'll be practicing HSTs with my Star Wars FQ stack, and I think I'll need at least one blender fabric for that, so I'll get some practice soon.

june 20th checkin

I don't have a line of blenders I use. I simply use what looks good with the main colors I am using.
