May 23 check in

Usually I look in local shops and online and pick up what takes my fancy, but I'm really bad about knowing about any up-coming fabric lines.

I got two baby quilts done so that is something LOL

The first one was done with blocks from the last round of the Quilt Block Swap, thanks to all my partners for their amazing work!
First one front

Back

This one I loved the fabric and they had this pattern as a freebie to use the fabric line with so I did. Turned out very nice
second Front:

back:

When my daughter comes next month so we can scatter my late husbands (her step fathers) ashes at the Coast, she will take back both of these for her co-workers.

I needed something to think about other then death so I said I would make quilts for her to give as gifts.
it helped

well and wonderment

I am so glad that you are using your sad time to think of others...those gifts will be greatly appreciated...and I am sure they have helped you as well.

I love the binding you used on the second one a lot...tiny checks?

Take care, carol...I think of you often, dear friend.

I have no internet at home, so I have been absent...

May 16th and May 23rd check in:

I just learned how to make my own binding so I can't wait to try it out. Otherwise, I tend to stick with the packaged stuff. As for fabric lines, I have no favorites right now (must resist the temptation!). But I do love a nice FQ bundle or a pretty jelly roll.

And, between my appointments today, I hope to slap a binding on a baby quilt. I seriously have to square it off first, however... Fingers crossed the baby holds off another day!

Wonderful quilts, Carol!  I had great fun playing "spot the block" in the first one!  Wink  Love the look of the second one too - simple but effective, which is always good.  Smiley

Did you get any of the Mendocino re-release? I got a few, so fun! My friend who is the biggest Heather Ross fan got at least a yard of the whole line.
