Recently I was in the quilt block swap round 8.  I decided that I wanted to make a wall quilt for my mom who has a chicken theme.  Recently she had given me all of her fabric as do to her eye sight and arthritis no longer sews.  One piece was chicken wire fabric, about 5 yards.  She made the comment how much she liked the fabric and I knew that a chicken themed quilt would be perfect.  So with the help of my fantastic partners the plan was set in place.  After the blocks were received I added button eyes and contrasting hearts as wings to show my love.  The chicken wire fabric formed the border and I used a red and white polka dot for the binding and back.  I also managed to make a table runner to match.  With the help of my swap block partners I made the perfect Christmas present full of love.  I also made a draft of the quilt adding in which blocks my partners made and where they were sent from.  I know she is going to love this.

Your post teared me up!  I bet you just can't wait to give it to her for Christmas!

What a wonderful idea to include a little draft of the blocks so she can see that she got a quilt made in Europe, US and Canada! WOW!

I like this idea for all of the swap quilts...think I am going to use this as well...

Thanks for sharing your story and your lovely quilt....I feel honored to be included.

I love the idea of using any leftover blocks for a runner!

Chicken wire material is the bomb!  I love what you have done with this quilt and am sure your Mom will adore this quilt.  A lovely piece!

Awww, that is wonderful - I remember following the progress of the blocks on the swap thread, and it's great to see how they came together.  I bet your mum was thrilled!  Cheesy
