This coat was made last Autumn, but for some reason I didn't get around to make pictures of it. Last week I finally took a friend of mine to a beautiful Modernist part of my town for some pictures Smiley

The coat was very fun to make. The pattern I got from an old coat of mine that was no longer wearable. It was great to use it to make something new. I'm sure I'll use the pattern again!

Gorgeous! The style is perfect for the fabric, and I love the way it falls from the waist at the back. It looks so simple, but it takes real skill to make that work!

That is gorgeous!  I did a vogue 8340 a couple of years ago, intending it to be mostly a mockup, and every year I swear I'm going to make a new coat.. and then don't.  (Not going to use that pattern again, I had a few complaints, and would really prefer to do something but a lapel cut into the front panel rather than separate, and ideally shoulder princess seams.  I have a few patterns that are closer then the Vogue one I last used (I'm thinking Simplicity 2508 or 1732,) but somehow I haven't gotten myself to go ahead, settle on a pattern, and dedicate a fabric to it.

I find it so difficult to work out the details for a coat, I have so much trouble actually using my better fabrics; I want a coat to be more perfect than I should.  I was frustrated as heck while I was making the Vogue coat, but still shockingly happy with it once I was wearing it.  You are awesome for doing a coat as your own cloned pattern.  And it's so beautiful!
