BTW Bea, your teddy bears, hearts, and ducks went like hotcakes.  I was hoping to win a bear myself, but got outbid on both of them. Smiley

Since having sufficent table space was an issue, for the next sale I suggest checking with a lumber yard or home repair store to see if they would loan you plywood to use as table tops. They might be willing to do that for some free publicity. Furniture stores might save appliance boxes for you to use as bases.

That's a good thought Kathy, but we can also use the dining tables in a pinch and until I find another parent to help I have to budget my energies. Next time we will be ordering a few more tables so it shouldn't be an issue unless it really grows.  He really just didn't know how many tables we needed. Smiley

I am trying to find a mechanic who would offer up his services for free in return for publicity.  We would just pay for parts.  I'm going to ask if we can get the van checked out by my friend's mechanic to get an estimate on its life.  I am hoping to start us saving for another.  Smiley

And we are starting a brick wall campaign where you can purchase your name to be on a virtual brick wall.  Smiley  I'll let you know just in case any of you want to get your name/company out there.  Smiley

Thanks Bea! Smiley  Everyone had such a wonderful time.  It was good community building in addition to helping us with our financial woes.  Oh, and Lana and I were lucky enough to get 2 of your crocheted key rings!  I missed out on so many fun things like Always' lipbalm holders and LM's coin purses because I wasn't quick enough. And I got outbid on PW's felted hat, etc. Grr. Next year I should find someone to end the auction for me...like John so that I can get in some last minute shopping.

Our next and last fundraiser for the year is a band concert on May 20th that my boss's band UnCommon Core is helping us with.  They are a cover band for 80's music. https://www.facebook.com/UnCommonCoreDC/
We will get 10% of the drink sales which hopefully will be $200+ according to the Barking Dog Bar owner. To make a little more money I'm collecting restaurant cards for a raffle and I'm thinking of asking for a $5 donation at the door.  I hope it goes well.  Any thoughts on how to do this better?  I hate feeling like I am stumbling along.

Anyhow that is a long way away.  Today Lana will be helping her chorus craft for the Thoughful Treasures Program at the NIH Children's Inn. The idea is to put a small something in each child's mailbox for every day of their stay. I've been crafting simple pillows for them since Lana was 2...in fact she started then too.  I would let her draw on cardstock and make them into bookmarks by writing happy phrases on them.  Today she'll be helping our Training chorus and Young Men's chorus make origami.  We made little thank you messages on lollipops for the choruses.  I'm combining it with a Snack & Mingle event so it should be lots of fun.  Lana is doing this as part of their Global Youth Service Week.  It culminates on Sat with a huge crafting event (pinatas for Extra Ordinary Birthdays, knitting/crochet for homeless and Newborns in Need), collecting supplies (toiletries for Totes for the Homeless, bikes for Africa), running a Farmers Market Lemonade Stand for hunger awareness, and a Bag Lunch Campaign for the homeless.  I'll be posting events as they occur on our Facebook page.  Smiley

I did not realize that the auction happened already - sounds like it was a success!  Good job - I will have to look at the FB page for pics.  I hope my items went over well - if not, let me know, because I would be happy to make more items for the future, but want to make sure I offer up items that would attract buyers.

What about vertical space - especially for small items or items that are light and can be pinned up or hung up - like display boards of some kind, fabric or cork covered folding doors, or what not?

Mom = Busy Smiley Seriously they are in a hole and I'm trying to help them out of it.  Most of the DM parents don't contribute anything to the club and are happy to let Bryan treat their kids to lunch/dinner when they help out at an event on top of paying for all the crafting supplies and driving their kids to and from events.  Lana donated $100 to the club after her first time out with Bryan after he treated all the kids to a snack for helping him with the flyers.  She said it wasn't right that he paid for everything. I was really proud of her because she has been saving for her wedding/college since she was little and this was the first time she'd ever spent any of it.

Onyx, I got your pendant!!!  Happy Dance!  It was fantastic thanks to all of you!!  All of your things are great.  Don't worry about it.  That goes for everyone.  The shoppers really varied in age/tastes and everyone fell in love with something.

Yes, I meant to make a picture frame with wires strung from end to end to pin up your items.  I still have some leftover so I will do that next time.  I just ran out of time.  I was literally printing things to the very end and even got there late for setup.
