I'm trying to take this pattern and make it into a top.  I want to do view A and cut it to a shirt length.

I'm not sure how I want to do the neckline though.  I think the stand up lace would be too itchy, but I'm not sure how I could replace it.  Leaving it plain seems like a bad idea as it would probably look weird.  The stand up collar option they include would probably look fine, but it might still bother my neck, plus I'm on the short side so it doesn't take much for stand up collars to be too tall. Thoughts?

I think it would be lovely plain with a sweetheart neckline, or, even a square or v neckline at the front and you can still retain the jewel neckline at the back?

Is your fabric patterned or plain as that may help you decide? I think a sweetheart neckline goes with any plain or patterned fabric. (Can you tell I like a sweetheart neckline . . . I think it suits everyone.)

Best wishes and great sewing.

polyester lace would be scratchy, use cotton lace instead.

that dress looks almost exactly like one I had in 8th grade!
