Our church did a Trunk or Treat this year so my trusty Matrix received a make over to DAY OF THE DEAD!

I constructed the hat out of posterboard, an old pair of black pants (I couldn't find enough plain black fabric in my stash), and red pom pom trim. The mask was downloaded from the internet and hand colored (I grew short on time!). The rest of the outfit was straight from my closet.

I painted up some birdhouse gourds to keep me company and cut tissue paper garland for a festive look. I ran the lights from a Diehard battery charger. The candy bowls are missing in this pic, but were cut from the gourds and painted with shellac. I included a pic...we ate ALL the candy!

Come and have fun!

Oh, my gorsh! Gordy gorsh, that is. What fun! I already commented on another thread. You just must keep these wonderful creations displayed for a while. Dangle them on a clothes line? If you spray coat them with an over coat, that should protect them. And even aged looking, they will still look grand. Maybe add to the patina? I have a bowl of gourds. Darn. Now I have to paint them. Yours are so inspiring.

For anyone wishing for these...they are easy to grow. You can do them in a pot with a trellis or any wire to twindle them on. Panty hose makes for a fine gripper/support once the ovum flower decides to make a gourd. Just tie it around the fruit to support it. On wherever you wish to stick it. (Female is the one with the bulb at the bottom of the flower. Where the fruit grows from.) Male blossoms will drop off. And are good in salad  Grin) Tickle your fruits with a Q-tip or Male flower. And you can pollinate your own (for indoors). Or just let the bees and butterflies do it if you have a garden outdoors. I would love to see a gourd thread here  Grin There are so many things you can do with them.

Thanks cmarion3. It looks like you had a fun festival!

NEW REQUEST: Need quilting fabric with ONLY purple, grey, green. Solids or Prints in any combination/shades, but NO OTHER COLORS ALLOWED. HELP! They are hard to find.
