I've been alternating between garden stakes & painted flamingos lately.  For my latest yard bird, I decided to leave the basic Flamingo pink, as is, & just add painted designs over it.  I found the paint didn't adhere well to the surface.  In the past, I've always spray painted the under surface white when painting plastic.   Once I was able to get the designs on, I finished it with 3 coats of polyurethane.  The result is a hard coated finish that shouldn't wear off any time soon.

I love your flamingos!  And yeah, I imagine a primer is best so the paint won't flake off, but this one looks as great as the others!

Moving into a TinyHouse in an RV park in FL.  Pink flamingos are de rigueur around here, but NO ONE has anything like this!  If imitation is the truest form of flattery, I'm going to be flattering you all over my tiny corner of the park.  Mine won't be nearly this elaborate (you're up for sainthood, I'm certain!) but I can't wait to rock that plastic bird.

White "made for plastic" spray paint base? Acrylics from little bottles for the colours?

Love these too much!

Suzyqz, you're right  on both counts.  Spray base & acrylic bottles.  The polyurethane is gloss, brushed on.  I'm in Florida too---Central---but only spend winters here.  Are we close to each other?
