GALLERY!

Swap name: Quilt Block Swap – Round 8

Back by popular demand!  If you are in Round 7, you will need to have sent to sign up for Round 8.

Craftster member who is organizing this swap:  donniesgirl
Sign-up date range: September 8, 2015 – September 30, 2015 (I may close early if sign ups slow down that last week & we have rounded groups of people)
Date to send item by: November 30, 2015

Limited to a certain number of people? No, but will need to end in multiples of fives, so I may close early to meet this.  If you are waiting to sign up, please stalk the thread to make sure you don’t miss out in case it does close early!

Restricted to people who all live in the same country? No: if you join, you are agreeing to ship internationally

Additional Age requirement? No

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES
- Is at least 18 years old: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES
- Participant has agreed that he/she is at least 16 years old: YES
- If within the US, understands that Delivery Confirmation number is required for this swap: YES
- If outside the US, understands that a mailing receipt copy is required for this swap: YES
- Has successfully completed one swap as a participant: YES

Details of swap:
This is a swap for 12.5 inch quilt blocks*. People will be organized into groups of 5 and will send 3 blocks to each of the 4 other people in their group, for a total of 12 blocks per group. Swappers with excellent swap feedback may do more than 1 group (up to 3). Within each group it should cost about $12 total to send out to 4 people, with delivery confirmation (assuming within the US). Please keep shipping costs in mind when choosing your number of groups.

*If you fall in love with a pattern that yields a different sized block you can use it, up to 14 inches, but be sure to specify the size that it makes so that your partners aren't confused.

Everyone chooses their block or blocks that they would like made for them. It could be a specific block with an online link to the pattern or a general type (i.e., pinwheels or appliqued birds). Keep in mind that people of different skill levels are involved, so please don't pick a super advanced block unless you also pick an easier block to go with it.

You will also choose your color palette. That could be a color family, a couple of particular colors, or something as vague as "brights" or “scrappy” if you want to leave it up to the other swappers' interpretations. You may also/instead specify certain fabric patterns if they are vague enough, like plaid, stripe, polka dots, etc. Try to only be as specific as you need to be so that people can work from their stash as much as possible.

You must use 100% cotton fabric and press your seams as you put your blocks together, unless your partner(s) have specifically stated otherwise.

Measure your blocks before you send them out! They need to be 12.5 inches square. Send all squares in a ziplock style bag for protection.

Newbies are not allowed in this swap because there are multiple sendouts.

Please make sure to post in this thread to keep up with swap announcements. You will not be approved until you have posted here.

Please do not sign up until you have decided on your pattern and colors.
If you just want scrappy or sampler blocks, please specify that.

Communication is very important to me! You must pm your partner(s) and myself when you send out and receive.  There will also be communication among your group: please respond to questions within a few days.

Since this swap is for multiple sendouts, I reserve the right to refuse anyone with bad feedback regarding communication and/or late sending.

Right. These are my musings. I think I'm actually going to go with blues on white, because it's neutral and fur-resistant colorwise. Purple on white is really nice too though, hmmm....

Was considering it, but I don't want it to stripe Smiley I'm going to give myself to the end of the day to figure it out. Right now I'm leaning towards purple stars and making a blue border. Or possibly the other way around...

Um, so. I've been cruising quilt blogs... How do we feel about EPP hexagons?

I'm trying to narrow down block choices. And i have it to four. But one is hexies...

Like this.
http://wombatquilts.com/page/2/ it would likely be four six inch blocks sewn together... So a total of  84 hand sewn hexies...

If there is a great hue and cry of no. I have other options.   Some more diabolical than the rest.  Mwahahaahaa...
