Sex, Crafts and Silmarils… (Best of 2014 Winner!)

So… I had too much time on my hands and spent several hours embroidering a Silmarillion heraldry patch that I had absolutely no use for. (Pointless, but relaxing!) The result came out rather nice, and so I decided to give it a use, and made this notebook cover styled like a cover of the actual book. This was my first ever notebook cover!

Originally I didn't plan to add the teardrops, but there was a blemish in the fabric I didn't notice until it was too late, and this seemed like a good way to cover it up.

I was inspired by this actual cover of the book:

PS: I seem to be the only one in the Silmarillion fandom on this entire site, which is sad. If you read and loved this book, please give me a shout! ^_^ (I'm lonely xD)

You did a great job on replicating the symbol. Looks amazing!  Smiley

Excellent job on your notebook cover!  All of your stitching is very symmetrical and sharply defined and the colors are vivid.

I told you once before that I've read The Silmarillion, but it was so many years ago (almost two decades probably), I don't remember much of it.  I'm a much bigger fan of Tolkien's The Hobbit, and Lord of the Rings.

That's beautiful! I was given a copy of the Silmarillion with that cover when I was quite young, and I liked Tolkien's designs even before I read it. I've only read it once, but I really liked it, I must get round to reading it again.
