I wasn't exactly sure where to put this hoopla I created for artsycandice in the Quotes Quotes Quotes swap, but I thought this was a good fit  Grin

I love creating mixed media art, but I wanted to do something that was a little different for me- to push myself to try new techniques. So I decided to start with playing with some of my fiber stash and seeing where things went from there. First I created a sheet of felt by wet felting merino, mohair, Cotswold locks, bamboo and silk- some of which I had hand dyed previously. While that was drying, i decided to play around with some BFL yarn that I had handspun and created a small woven piece. At this point I had thought that I would embroider the quote onto the hoopla when it was done, but when I tried that, the stitches kind of sank into the fiber background. So I pulled out my polymer clay supplies and rubber stamps and went to town.

After attaching the poly clay quotes and the woven piece, the hoopla still looked a little plain so I decided to add some french knots and seed stitches with embroidery floss, ribbon and handspun yarn. I also needle felted some more Cotswold locks onto the piece.

I am pretty happy with how this turned out- especially since I was winging it the whole time  Grin
