This poor doll has been sitting on a shelf in my sewing room for years, waiting for me to finally dress her. It took me long enough, but I stitched her dress on yesterday.

I had this really pretty, blue monarch butterfly print that matched her hair, so I cut out as many individual "wings" as I could. I used a flame to singe the edges and keep them from unraveling, then I pinned the little pieces onto the doll to make the dress. I just hand-stitched the edges down with some variegated thread, trying not to sew the dress to the doll. It went together very quickly, and was probably the easiest method for making a doll's dress that I've managed yet.  Grin

Thanks for looking!

She's gorgeous! So very elegant… The blue of her hair and makeup/eyelids is beautiful (I would totally dye my own hair that color) and the dress is awesome too. You really got the maximum effect out of the fabric, and the result is very fairy-like. I love it!

Thanks, everyone, for all of the kind comments!  Kiss

I got the idea for her dress from the Tinkerbell movies - all the fairies have clothes made from leaves and flower petals, still sort of in their original shape.

Her hair is wool dyed with royal blue Wilton's food coloring....lots of food coloring.  Wink

Sorry, my son immediately claimed her as his own.  Cheesy
