The last owners left the deck kind of ratty-looking, but our plans for the deck are bigger than a bit of sprucing up so in the meantime I decided to put some outdoor rugs down. Not the best fix, but an improvement nonetheless.

I bought inexpensive indoor/outdoor carpet-by-the-foot at a big box home center in two lengths, made stencil, then applied a mix of UV safe craft paint and textile medium.

I go into more detail about the process on my blog. Also with more dogs-helping photos!

So, here's what I think is happening here... I'm thinking "I would really like to stencil a rug and what's with this cute arrow trend I'm seeing nowadays? I really want to try that." And then the next thing you know you actually do it and with finesse beyond compair. Is it a mind meld? Are you a cyber-idea-zombie? Or, most likely, just a creative genius who actually kicks her butt in gear and is productive as hell! It looks amazing! ❤️❤️❤️

Mind meld! Mind meld!  I waivered between arrows and feathers, but went with arrows because I thought the stencils would be easier to cut and easier to make "modular" so I could very them easily and perhaps make them more random although I failed at the truly random thing.

Rugs? It's Delia and Betty!  Smiley Look at the grey on that sweet girls face.

The rugs look great, and I'm impressed with how centered and clean your designs are. Also the arrows go with the rest of your rustic surroundings.  Smiley

Thanks!  And ha! We were just talking the other night to someone about Betty's grey on her muzzle... it's ALWAYS been there and when she was about 8 months old and spazzing out at the park people marvel would ask us how old she was and we would tell them 8 months and they would say "Oooooooh! We saw her grey muzzle and thought she was some kind of super active senior dog!" She'll be 5 in August.

Looks great - and admit it, your success was entirely due to the exemplary supervision skills of the dog right?  That's how it is in our house Wink

Aw, shucks! And I'm already behind on my summer projects due to a surprise house guest and The Heat.

Awesome rugs! They look match the dogs so well. Cheesy

Thanks! Life's just easier if the rugs match the dogs, right?

Uhhhhh, right? One reason this took so long was having a large enough open space to work in at a time when micro-managing canines wouldn't walk on the wet paint!
