I've been wanting to make a special door decoration for my house for the Independence Day holiday.  I wanted something that used the US flag, but also had summery elements to create a cheery welcome sign for my home.  I decided to make this flag sign using scrap wood.  I arranged the scrap wood to look a little like a picket fence and topped it off with some artificial flowers.

I'm really happy with the result and plan to display my sign/door decoration throughout the summer.  I've posted more photos and a tutorial on my blog  at http://purl3agony.hubpages.com/hub/DIY-Craft-Tutorial-4th-of-July-Patriotic-Flag-Door-or-Wall-Decoration

That is fabulous because it encapsulates the entire summer!  I'd display that bad boy from Memorial Day to Labor Day!
Gorgeous!!!

This turned out really nice! You should definitely keep it up all summer long. It's great for the whole season. Those artificial flowers fooled me!! They look very real.

I love the way you've used scrap wood for this, it's so effective with the stripes.

Thanks everyone  Smiley

@LimeRiot - If I had a greener thumb, I would have made a little planting box on the back to plant real flowers on this sign.  But with my gardening skills, they would definitely die Sad  BTW - Love your personal blog and enjoy reading your posts!!
