THE DETAILS
Time to finish up some pieces for your in-progress altered puzzles, or begin a new one!

For this swap, you repurpose or purchase a jigsaw puzzle (cardboard or wooden) and send two pieces to each of your partners.  You can choose the theme, or you can let your partners have an artists choice.  Totally up to you.

Ideally, we will be in groups of six, meaning you mail out and alter ten puzzle pieces.  (This is subject to change slightly, based on how many swappers sign up.)  If you prefer to be in more than one group, please let me know.

This is open to international partners. Willingness to ship internationally is required for this swap, given the small size of what were sending.

PIECES MUST BE ENCLOSED IN CARDSTOCK OR A GREETING CARD.  If you think it needs to be hand cancelled, please write that on the envelope.  Personally, Ill probably be sending mine in mailers, because it just seems safest.  But use your judgement based on the size and thickness of the pieces your mailing.  Remember how difficult it is when a pieces goes missing (it is a puzzle, after all!) Thanks.

While waiting for partners, you should:

1. Buy or choose a puzzle.

2. Assemble and number the backside of EACH piece.

3. Decide if you want the pieces facing the same way or all over the place. Add arrows to backs of pieces to indicate which direction. (On the questionnaire, I will ask if your pieces are one direction or any direction).

4. Choose your theme or themes.

5. Prepare your pieces.  Some people just mail them as they are; others sand them a bit and add some gesso to make a clean slate.  Its up to you.

6. You can write a letter to include with your pieces and make your wishes known - glitter or no glitter, 3-D or no 3-D, words or no words, whatever guidelines you have for your finished pieces. You can also say "Artist's choice with an ocean theme" or "Artist's Choice" - this means each partner will decorate/alter the pieces in his/her own way and you will have a puzzle with a random look.

7. Remember, you will send out your pieces to each partner for altering. It's a good idea to copy or trace pieces before sending out if anything goes missing.

Luvebuggy9 obviously shows a 4-H puzzle to complete. Very nicely done, and I love the gesso and blank canvas effect of the missing pieces. I assume she sent her original puzzle pieces that way. I will send the same for mine that I wish back when I join this round.

I am hunting for the right puzzle.

I signed up in a previous round (8?) and sent the wrong kind, so I felt. It was my first puzzle swap, and I did not know until my partner/s pieces started arriving that I realized that mine were way different. Mine were like, inchie size....members did not mind those, though. They liked the challenge. And what I received back for my puzzle that they made was awesome!!!! Check out that gallery!

Their puzzle pieces that they sent for me to create on were a mix-max of all kinds of puzzle shapes..and that was the fun of designing art around the shapes. And creating their individual themes combined. A very fun journey.

I will jump in on this swap...I just have to find the right puzzle. And decide the theme I wish. I traveled a neat journey on that past swap, studying things from Loteria, to Hello Kitty, and other themes that sent me on a mystery tour of art, ideas and how to interprate it.

Jump in! This swap is a challenge, and NOT FOR FLAKERS!!! But well worth the effort. I can't wait until I am ready to send my swap info! I might have an orphan 24-piece laying around here somewhere...time for a closet clean out? Or a shop for one? I will get ready.

~T

Got it  Grin...Well worn and loved puzzle, 20 piece, but my daughter, 24, and son is 10 and won't care...puzzle needs a bit of love and care, but whole pieces are not missing, just a bit bent/broken. I will back it up with poster board, and stabilize it again before sending the pieces.

Hey...Jean or Irene Harris...if you are out there...your name is on the box. (Rhetorical) I am sure many of your childhood chums played with this one (looks like show and tell), but I am giving it a new life. I think I yard sale-ed or thrift store bought originally. Perfect! My swap entry request to follow!...sent  Grin i think I am in. too. Happy swapping.

Woo! That's my Girl Scout puzzle shown in the first post.  Want to see it completed?

I have two completed puzzles now. I'm not sure if I'm ready to start a third.
