I came across this gadget mixed in a bag of dolls. Loom is a pale lavender plastic with retractable pins. About 3" square. I am guessing it's similar to spool knitting, but square.

Would love to know the correct name and see if there are any patterns online.  I can't even locate a finished project for inspiration.

I think it is called the  Magic Loom Granny Square Maker.  I have an older version that is metal from the 50's...somewhere....but I can't seem to find much about them on line.  You loop yarn around the metal prongs and then weave through that with yarn on a needle I believe.  Then you can turn the handle to release the square.  If I find mine I'll post the info sheet Grin

This is called a Knit-Wit and there is a video on youtube.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQQgKss6DJs  There are also some other videos plus the original commercial.

And here is the manual.  http://www.knitting-and.com/small-looms/knitwit.html
