This is my first attempt at quilting and epp, so please be kind =)

I used an 8bit pattern and kind of made it up as I went along. I made all the hexies and then pieced them together.  Then i appliqued it to the backing fabric, quilted around the edges, and used a running stitch to attach the bias tape (since I have no idea how to bind a quilt and I was running out of time.)  It took me much longer then I thought, but in the end I am happy with it as my first attempt at quilting.  This was for a studio ghibli swap I was in on instagram.

I recognized who it was from the thumbnail. You did a great job! How big is it?

Its about 25x26, which is bigger then I wanted it to be.  I was going for 20x20, but Ponyo ended up being bigger then I thought.

Thanks everyone!  My goal for this year is to learn to properly quilt.  This is my first step.  I hope to make a few more mini quilts.

I think when you learn to do it "properly" you should do a NSFW one so it can be proper and Improper.
But why learn properly anyway? I've become a quilter. I don't know if I'm doing it right, but I'm doing it! As long as it looks good who cares if it is "proper?"

I really like how you stitched the binding.  It emphasizes that it was made by hand.  Great job!

@ jexx, Well by proper I mean I'd liked to be able to cut and piece a block together without messing up multiple time.  I'd also like to know how to bind a quilt the right way.

@jnicodemus

Thank you, for this one I really liked the look of the hand sewn binding.  I though it worked well since it was about 95% done by hand.
