For LA-Fairy in the Beltane Merrymaking Swap.  I had been inspired by a picture from an old magazine of one of my crafty hero Ernest Thesiger’s projects he made for his house, and a technique he mentions in his book “Adventures in Embroidery” - that of stitching fabric motifs onto net or lace to use as a screen, and I wanted to try it.  I had also found a picture of a gorgeous embroidered lace shawl which I wanted to emulate, but I quickly realized I had not allowed myself nearly enough time.  

My small and simplified version:

Thank you!  The flowers are from a biggish floral print cotton from Joann.  I found the rounder shapes were easier to work with than the many pointy petals, so if I do it again I'll try to find a floral print with simple, rounded flowers.  Of course more elaborate shapes are more impressive.... Tongue
