What is a dotee? (by Smmarrt)

A dotee is a mini art doll, meant to be traded or swapped. The dolls are generally smaller than 6" with a face, but do not usually have arms or legs (unless that's part of your design). Dotees have a loop for hanging, some come with tails (tails are fibers, ribbon, charms or other string-y things that add to the theme of the doll), and can be made from a variety of materials - fabric, felt, canvas, denim, gourds or any other material/media that you can make a doll from. Most dotee makers add buttons, beads, sequins, embroidery, or charms to embellish the doll.

I'd forgotten about his tiny rootlet. Cheesy

Flora is, of course, the perfect follow-up to Fauna. So many possibilities in this one!

I wanted to keep doing this but I just stress myself too much. I am so out of crafting practice and I was hoping this would make me work on things more but I end up stressing because I am not happy with my finished product and then I have to send it to someone and I feel guilty about it. I think I need to organize my stuff and just practice making things on my own and not inflict them on anyone else. Maybe eventually I'll feel better about jumping back in.

Welcome back to the MDS La Chapa, Wulf, and sammylouise40! Wile E Songdog, I hope you'll join us again in a few months. We all grow as crafters, and I don't think anyone will hold it against you if you're still learning and figuring things out!

I know everyone has different abilities and different styles and everyone always seem happy with what they get. My problem is mostly in my own head. I know we're always our own worst critics. I was pretty frustrated earlier when I wrote that and I have since decided to try making some more for practice and if I get something I am happy with before the sign-up deadline then I may sign up after all.
