I live in Ottawa and it feels like the arctic right now. This is pretty much were I wish I could be instead ... on a warm balmy beach, sipping a drink, roasting a fish on a fire. And of course the edible environment is a plus. This was my first attempt at a gingerbread something as part of a get together with friends. Suffice to say many catastrophes were to be had.

The hut as well as the firewood are made of gingerbread and the island is made of hazelnut shortbread.  The palm tree is a cinnamon stick with hazelnuts for coconuts and mint tummies for leaves and the vegetation / leaves and weird snake are made out of gum paste.

Great out of the box thinking! I'd love to be on a tropical island too!

I didn't say, "Hey, girl!", I said, "Hay, girl!"

I live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, so far North I might as well be as honorary Canadian, so I can definitely sympathize with you on the harsh winters in this part of the world.  I'd rather be on a tropical island too this time of year!

Anyway, great entry--I really like that you took a different approach than the typical winter fare and I dig all the little environmental details on your island.
