I made this for spikefan in the December Ongoing ATC Swap. Her theme was embroidered, and I found a lot of moths on her pinterest while I was looking for inspiration.

The main stitches I used were split stitch, satin stitch, a bit of stem stitch, fly stitch for the antennae, and french knots for the body. I had a lot of fun with this one! I didn't sketch it at all on the fabric, so it was a true free-hand (while looking at a picture).

I love luna moths - I even made a luna moth Halloween costume for myself as a little kid! I haven't seen one in years, but this past summer I found a luna caterpillar while camping in New York. The coloring looked like it was just about to pupate. Very cool.

Stunningly beautiful work AcadianDriftwood!  I'm super jealous of spikefan.  Also, just "rocked" your project.

Hey, I've been searching for this in the ATC files! Wanted to put my two cents in about how awesome it was..... so, here it is. It's awesome!  I have seen it in person and it does indeed rock!
