You mentioned that you made a pillow with buttons.  How did you do it?  What does it look like?

Wow. I can't believe that I missed this one when it first came out. Those pillows are fantastic! As are the zipper inspired bags. Looks like I'm going to have to conquer my fear of zippers.  Grin

thank you so much for this tutorial!!  i had grabbed a huge handful of zippers that were being thrown out, and have used one in two years... and now i had something to do with the rest  them.
i made some of these pillows yesterday- the first one (the long one) didnt really work, because several of my little pockets i sewed burst open to reveal the stuffing. i think i sewed too close to the edge of weak fabric. so for that one, i sewed the zipper head down so it revealed fabric up until the split.

but on the square one, i used just one piece of fabric and sewed all the zippers on to that one piece. and that worked really well, and the effect was still great.
i also made a purse that was inspired by all of this, but thats in the purse area.

thanks for the great tutorial, it was a huge help!

dahlea, I've been on a pillow kick -- making all sorts of pillows to pile onto my daybed.  When I was making one covered with buttons, that led me to thinking of using other notions like zippers ...

Lol, my day bed is to say the least interesting. I have a pillow with fake flowers on it, a harry potter pillow, a blue one, an icecream cone(my first pillow, I'm still incredibly proud how good it looks) and a couple of ones with funky designs...

When did the world become so complicated? I mean, when a person says, "I deserve a cookie" twenty people ask, "why?" I <3 ya Lucky!

Cool idea.  And really funky looking pillow.  My mom would totally love this.  It would look so good in her living room.  I doubt my would turn out nearly as awesome but I might have to give this one a try.

This is SUCH a cool idea!
You're so creative.

I was at goodwill today and they had a huge box of zippers for 4/$1. I was going crazy trying to think of something I could do with them and couldn't think of anything. I didn't buy them, and now I see this! Gosh!
I'm extremely mad at myself. Ha..
Maybe I'll get my mom to take me back there this weekened.

I think it would also be neat to do all of the zippers the same color (say if you wanted the pillow to match a color scheme in your room), and seeing the different fabrics when you unzip them would be even more suprising. Smiley
