I have been meaning to cover this styrofoam wig stand that I have had forever.  Finally got it done.  I covered it with some pages from a local PA town's newspaper from the bicentennial, 1972.  It is quite yellowed.  I covered  it with Mod Podge to make it smooth after I took this picture:

Love your head...I did the same to mine but with music. My friend's mother passed away and she brought me some craft items, plus a really dirty, yellowed Styrofoam head. I covered it with old music, which was very fitting as her mother was a pianist and had taught piano for years.

Don't they look so much better? And your beautiful hats look perfectly at home!

Ditto on your comment lindy! I've made a few things though have been really slow to get pictures taken as it is winter and is perpetually dark! Dark = bad pictures. I have also just started getting into making smoothies for my morning breakfast..though my first two..."adventures" have been less than great. I'm learning a lot though!

It belonged to my mother...when I was about 10, I decided to put "make-up" on it...painted the lips red, the eyes blue, etc. My poor mother was so tolerant of my attempt at a re-do...she kept it like that all my life...I found it among her things and decided to try again...I like the results much better! Grin

lindy and sheepblue--you might be slow starting out, but the both of you catch up quickly! Grin  Relax and enjoy all the projects everyone is doing...I know we will see plenty of your projects through out 2015!

So many posts - it is hard to keep up  Smiley!
Wile E Songdog, I love your story about the painted rock you found among your mothers jewellery. I understand your mother so well, I could have done the same.
Kookaloo - I really like your heart and the peace sign. (What did you call it - de-countrysizing?  Grin)
That1girl - I like your granny squares, they are beautiful. And your giant dolli.
Pinekeeo - you make the most fantastic things in wood.
Quaggy - lovely dresses - the pictures bring back so many memories.  And I like the lighthouse  calendar, the sparkle fits the motif.

I love the head, and the altered peace sign ornament.

I have been inspired to make some fabric art journal pages this year. Hopefully this project will be on-going.

And a little "Heart of the Forest" fox dotee I made for the fake swap craft-along:

Wow, you guys sure have been active in the last nine days! :O I'm taking (and studying for) my final exams, so not much crafting yet on this side. Still, I wanted to claim a spot for my 2015 list, because last year, this craftalong helped me reach over 50. (Still need to upload a couple of pictures even!)

I think the very earliest craft projects I can remember actively working on were these:
Ecoline blow paintings in kindergarten. (Yep, definitely remember blowing on a straw and making something spacey at age 4!)
Two projects I can remember from first grade (when I was 6):
- covering an entire sheet of paper in patches of differently coloured wax crayons, which the teacher then covered in Chinese ink. After that dried, we used toothpicks to draw by scratching of the ink. You got really nice multi-coloured lines.
- an embroidered pencil case. Though we really just used large AIDA fabric and coloured yarn to sample many styles of stitches, and then our teacher backed that fabric with a lining and made an envelope style pencil case that closed with button snaps. Still, I do remember the embroidery!

But I'm sure I did lots more from an even younger age, either in school or at home. My grandfather was an artist who was actually (eventually) able to make a living off his paintings, and my grandmother sewed practically all children's clothes herself. My two nieces and me really cherished the faux-fur winter coats she made us when we were 7, 5 and 3. My mom took after both of them, painting and sewing lots (she was top of her class when she took creative design in weekend art classes) and my father really got into ceramics. Our house was covered in art and crafts! I did stick to writing for a long time to focus my creativity, because I was quite good at that and also because my angsty teenage brain was afraid I wouldn't be able to live up to my heritage. Mainly I made mental pictures and then very intricately told my mum what to make. Tongue I do think my crafting can hold its own now, and I get many compliments on my knitting, so I'm quite pleased. I've realised that it's not a competition, I do it just for fun.
